Assistant Teacher - Early Childhood Center - Headstart (55064)

The Early Childhood Center at 184 Eldridge Street serves children aged 2 to 5 using the “Dual Model” for Head Start and Child Care. The program provides comprehensive early childhood education, including health, nutrition, mental health, and school readiness curricula, with family services integrated into all aspects to ensure full participation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Teacher in planning and supporting daily classroom activities.
  • Help in writing daily and weekly lesson plans.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary classroom environment, assisting with setup and cleanup, and documenting maintenance tasks.
  • Support recruitment of parent volunteers and assist volunteers in the classroom.
  • Contribute to required reports, complete forms, and document observations, work samples, and photos in the online database system.
  • Assist with arranging field trips, home visits, and ordering supplies and materials.
  • Participate in staff and parent meetings, as well as training sessions.
  • Engage in performance evaluations and professional development activities.
  • Maintain up-to-date required trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to fulfill job responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or CDA required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Chinese preferred.
Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, 35 hours/week.
