Job summary

BrightPath Kids in Manassas, VA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to work with teachers and families, supporting child growth and independence in a nurturing, structured environment.

You will supervise children aged 16 months to 6 years, collaborate with the lead teacher, and engage individuals and small groups in age-appropriate activities, while maintaining strong communication with parents.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years’ experience working in a licensed childcare facility preferred
• Ability to multitask and remain organized
• Must meet state criteria for childcare employment
• Ability to work within regular operating hours

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety and supervision of children ages 16 months - 6 years
• Assist and support the lead teacher with supervision of children in the classroom while fostering an environment that will allow children to develop at their own pace
• Work with individual and small groups of children as directed by the lead teacher
• Create a rapport with the children and be responsive to their needs, guiding them through self-directed activities
• Maintain open lines of communication with parents to answer questions
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of the classroom, teaching materials and equipment

What will you be doing?

As an Assistant Teacher, you will work side-by-side with teachers and families to provide an authentic childcare experience by following each child as they grow and develop independence, confidence and a strong sense of community. Responsibilities include:
