Job summary

Clever Bee Academy is seeking an Assistant Teacher & Bus Driver to support children in the classroom and during transportation. You’ll assist the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing learning environment while also ensuring children are transported safely and responsibly to and from the center or on scheduled field trips.

This dual role emphasizes child safety, reliability, and teamwork. You should have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and be able to lift up to 60 lbs;

Qualifications

• 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 months of experience in a licensed childcare center or similar setting.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Comfortable following written and verbal instructions.
• Physically capable of lifting and carrying 10-60 lbs.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate classroom activities.
• Supervise children during daily routines, playtime, transitions, and field trips.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with children and families.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Safely transport children in alignment with driving, licensing, and child safety requirements.
• Ensure all children are properly seated and restrained before operating the vehicle.
• Conduct visual checks and full walk-throughs before and after each route.
• Maintain order, professionalism, and positive behavior on the bus.
• Keep accurate rider lists and transportation documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of the bus.
• Follow all bus safety protocols, including never leaving the vehicle running or unattended with children onboard.

About the Role

Clever Bee Academy is seeking a dependable, caring Assistant Teacher & Bus Driver to support children both in the classroom and during transportation. In this dual role, you’ll assist the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing learning environment while also ensuring children are transported safely and responsibly to and from the center or on scheduled field trips. This position is ideal for someone who values child safety, enjoys working with children, and takes pride in being a trusted, consistent presence throughout the day.

Required Qualifications

• 18 years or older with a high school diploma or equivalent

• Physically capable of meeting job demands, including lifting and carrying 10-60 lbs
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications

• College-level coursework in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• Ohio Career Pathways Level II or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification (CDA sponsorship available)
• Previous experience transporting children (school bus, childcare van, or similar)
• Confidence supervising and managing children during transport
