The Goddard School of Chesapeake, an early childhood education center, is currently seeking a qualified Part-Time and Full-Time Assistant Teacher (all ages) to nurture healthy development in children and encourage lifelong learning.

The Goddard School is a renowned program with a Piaget (Learning through Play) based foundation and a leader in the franchised preschool industry, which continues to grow and set the standard for excellence.

Daily Responsibilities

As a Goddard Assistant Teacher, arriving each day fully prepared and excited to teach is important. Supporting Goddard’s program, policies, and state licensing requirements is essential.

Assistant Teacher Tasks include, but are not limited to :

• Implementing developmentally appropriate, individualized lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of children in your classroom
• Creating a classroom environment that is fun and supports play, exploration, and learning
• Presenting expectations appropriate to the child’s age and developmental level
• Planning and implementing activities that develop self-esteem and social skills
• Establishing and maintaining a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment
• Advancing students’ physical and intellectual abilities
• Supporting social and emotional development through positive guidance and reinforcement
• Building positive and productive relationships with families
• Ensuring a well-organized, purposeful program responsive to participant needs based on Goddard’s standards of learning through play
• Maintaining professionalism with students, families, peers, and management

Assistant Teacher Qualifications :

• High school diploma, CDA, or current enrollment in college courses related to early childhood education
• Minimum age of 18 years
• Prior classroom experience (Infant, Toddler, Preschool, Kindergarten) preferred
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
