Overview

Shine on as an assistant teacher in special education and alternative education settings nationwide. Our team members of Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) support students who need academic, emotional, social, and behavioral assistance. Grow, learn, and thrive as part of our team.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate with teachers to work with small groups of students, delivering individualized services and support.
2. Monitor student behavior, track educational progress, communicate with parents, and reinforce learning and skills.
3. Work with students from diverse backgrounds, implementing the SESI academic rotational model.
4. Assist with assessments, provide behavioral and academic support, and reinforce learning.
5. Support large group activities, grading, independent study, and accommodations.
6. Utilize behavior support strategies, including de-escalation and crisis management if necessary.
7. Support daily planning, document student progress, and supervise students at all times.
8. Collaborate with other staff to meet students' needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Associates Degree required or 60 college credits; Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• Experience with students with special needs is preferred.
• Valid Sub-License is preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to run short distances, lift up to 50 pounds, and assist students with mobility challenges.
• Skill in fine motor tasks and operating a computer or tablet for extended periods.
• Capacity to respond to non-verbal cues and remain calm in demanding situations.
