The Goddard School located at Macomb, MI is seeking a motivated Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment. Bring your energy, enthusiasm and creativity to our supportive, collaborative team.

You’ll help foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions, while preparing classroom materials and maintaining a welcoming learning space.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience in licensed childcare or preschool settings is desirable.
• Demonstrates empathy, compassion and the ability to work with young children.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and activities.
• Adhere to health, safety and licensing guidelines.

Assistant Teacher Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans

• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
