The Goddard School is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our team in Macomb, MI. You will support the Lead Teacher by implementing engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans and ensuring a safe, stimulating classroom environment.

Our program focuses on nurturing development, teamwork, and communication with families, while offering professional growth opportunities and a supportive community for teachers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience working with young children in licensed childcare or preschool setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s development across social, emotional, cognitive and physical areas through engaging activities.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Communicate with families about child progress and daily activities.
• Follow health, safety, and licensing guidelines to ensure a secure environment.
• Assist daily care routines to promote a nurturing setting.

Assistant Teacher Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment

Qualifications:

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children
• Works productively without supervision
• Basic understanding of child development
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
• Must pass required state background checks and meet state minimum education, experience and credential requirements
