The position is responsible for providing assistance to teachers and students in the development of strategies to achieve academic, behavioral, and social goals; providing one-to-one supervision of a child; coordinating work within the School, as well as with other divisions/departments; complying with operating policies and procedures established for the assigned function; communicating with appropriate personnel; responding to inquiries or requests for information; maintaining appropriate records and providing assigned reports. Responsible for running groups with the cluster, assisting students to problem solve and reinforcing positive behavior. The Teaching Assistant is an active participant in Teaching Assistant and Clinical Services meetings.
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, or related fields preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to facilitate social skills groups; knowledge of risk assessment protocol. Moderate reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; able to lead small group academic instruction; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; knowledge and understanding of socially and emotionally disturbed children and/or children with autism; moderate PC skills, including Microsoft Office software.
