Job summary

Montessori Academy of Virginia is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support lead teachers in creating a safe, engaging learning environment for young children. You will contribute to daily activities that promote early learning and development, while maintaining a nurturing, professional atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or similar settings preferred.
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices.
• Certification in first aid and CPR is desirable; willingness to obtain.

• Support lead teachers with daily tasks promoting development and early learning skills.
• Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods for safety and engagement.

Duties

• Support lead teachers in implementing daily tasks that promote childhood development and early learning skills
• Assist with supervising children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods to ensure safety and engagement
• Help manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management strategies
• Support classroom organization by maintaining organization and cleanliness

Requirements

• Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or similar settings is highly preferred
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
• Certification in first aid and CPR is desirable; willingness to obtain if not already certified
• Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
• Compassionate caregiver with excellent communication skills and patience for working with diverse groups of children
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods in a busy childcare environment
• Pay $16 an hr, 5 paid Closed Holidays.
