Job summary

Kiddie Academy of Swedesboro is seeking a part-time classroom assistant to support the Lead Teacher and guide the classroom through lessons. You will prepare materials, interact with students, and supervise projects.

The role requires assisting daily management of the classroom, meeting health and safety standards, and timely documentation. Training and background checks are required, with afternoon/evening shifts 3:00–6:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Must meet all state and local licensing requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent and be 18 years of age or in a high school work study program in child care.
• Must complete required training hours per state licensing requirements.
• Candidate must pass state medical requirements and background check.

Responsibilities

• Assists and supervises children during all activities.
• Prepares instructional aids and materials for classroom activities.
• Maintains clean, safe classroom environment per NAEYC guidelines.
• Supports Lead Teacher in lesson preparation and classroom scheduling.
• Attends workshops and trainings as requested.
• Lifts up to 40 pounds consistently.
• Reports problems to Lead Teacher or Academy Director.

Job Summary

Provides classroom support for a Lead Teacher as they guide the classroom through a lesson by preparing materials, interacting with students and supervising projects. Assists in the daily management and supervision of classroom and children, as directed by the Lead Teacher.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Must be able to work between 3:00 to 6:00 pm
• Assists and supervises children during all activities.
• Develops plans and prepares instructional aids and materials for classroom activities, as needed.
• Ensures that appearance, cleanliness and safe environment of classroom are appropriately maintained, in accordance with the NAEYC cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
• Assists with ensuring the physical and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
• Assists with ensuring all policies and procedures are being implemented to keep the children healthy and safe.
• Assists with preparation and implementation of classroom lesson plans, programs and schedule.
• Assists with all Academy and classroom paperwork: for example, daily notes, accident reports and attendance reports.
• Responsible for attending workshops, conferences and in-service training, as requested.
• Reports any problems to the Lead Teacher or the Academy Director.
• Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds to at least waist high on a consistent basis throughout the workday.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must meet all state and local licensing requirements for the position.

Must have high school diploma or equivalent and be 18 years of age or must be in a high school work study program relating to the area of child care.

Must receive the required amount of training hours, if any, each calendar year per state licensing requirements.

Candidate must pass all state medical requirements and have a clear background check to qualify for employment.
