Job summary

The Goddard School is seeking a motivated Assistant Teacher in New Jersey. You will support the Lead Teacher, help implement engaging activities, and maintain a safe, welcoming classroom. Your energy and creativity will contribute to a positive learning environment for children.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma, with preferred associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication with families, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children.
• Works productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs in handling children.
• Must pass state background checks and meet education/credential requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
