Work Hours: 8 hours Monday-Friday. 40 hours a week. September-August. Hours are subject to change based on financial and program requirements.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Child Care Supervision & Management, or Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education w/Early Childhood Endorsement
- Able to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, push and pull regularly.
- Lift up to 15 pounds often; lift up to 30 pounds occasionally; lift over 30 pounds rarely.
Qualifications
- Center-based work experience with preschool age children preferred.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow the Head Start/Early Head Start Service Plan, Procedures, Performance Standards, and State of Iowa Licensing Regulations.
- Relate positively to low resource children, families, and staff.
- Work cooperatively with the center team and Program Specialists to ensure children and families receive full benefits of the program.
- Maintain staff-to-child ratio and ensure children's safety at all times.
- Maintain a healthy and safe learning environment.
- Coordinate daily center activities with the team.
- Provide an educational environment following High Scope, PBIS, and 2nd Step curricula to ensure school readiness.
- Collect anecdotal notes on children and enter into the Teaching Strategies online GOLD.
- Use assessment information to improve curriculum and individualize learning.
- Complete home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
- Attend IEP/IFSP meetings.
- Communicate effectively with parents and document all interactions.
- Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
- Contribute to a positive work environment.
- Help meet in-kind requirements.
- Willing to substitute in other classrooms and on the bus as needed.
- Follow cleaning procedures to maintain a sanitary environment.
- Work flexible hours, including some evenings.
- Attend at least 15 hours of trainings and meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
