Job summary

The Learning Experience in Grand Rapids, MI is hiring an Assistant Teacher for our daycare and preschool rooms. You will support Infant, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms, assist Lead Teachers with activities and routines, and help create a safe, engaging learning environment for children.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or early childhood experience preferred.
• Comfortable working with multiple age groups and classrooms.
• CDA or Early Childhood Education coursework is a plus.
• Reliable, flexible, energetic, and team-oriented.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to meet Michigan childcare licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support Infant, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms based on daily needs.
• Assist Lead Teachers with learning activities, classroom routines, and transitions.
• Engage children through play, art, music, movement, sensory activities, and outdoor experiences.
• Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, and other daily routines.
• Provide classroom and teacher break coverage while maintaining required ratios.
• Provide attentive supervision and positive guidance.
• Help prepare classroom materials and learning activities.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized classroom environments.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and teaching teams.
• Follow Michigan childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements.

Assistant Teacher – Daycare & Preschool

Location: The Learning Experience – Beltline, Grand Rapids, MI

Pay: $16–$18 per hour, based on experience and credentials

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday

The Learning Experience – Beltline is seeking a dependable and caring

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with different age groups and being part of a collaborative teaching team. You’ll provide classroom and break coverage throughout the day while helping our Infant, Toddler, and Preschool teachers create safe, engaging environments where children can learn, play, and grow.
