Job summary

The Goddard School is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and maintaining a safe, stimulating classroom. You’ll join a collaborative team that prioritizes teachers and the growth of children in Mason/Deerfield Township.

You will help implement lessons, support development across domains, and communicate with families while following health and safety guidelines. This role offers opportunities for advancement and professional growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate or Bachelor in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool settings is expected.
• Shows empathy and compassion for young children.
• Able to work productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in handling children.
• Must pass state background checks and meet education/experience/credential requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and maintain a safe, clean, inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
