The Goddard School of Grand Rapids Byron Center MI is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Teacher to join our caring team. You will support the Lead Teacher in delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons and help manage a safe, stimulating classroom environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool setting.
• Empathy and compassion for young children.
• Ability to work productively without supervision.
• Basic understanding of child development.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in caring for children.
• Must pass state background checks and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child's progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines and tasks to promote a nurturing learning environment.
