A private, not-for-profit human service agency located in Plattsburgh is looking for a Full-Time Head Start Assistant Teacher. This role involves supervising preschool activities, assisting the Teacher with lesson plans, and maintaining classroom materials. Ideal candidates will have or be pursuing a Child Development Associate credential.

The Head Start Assistant Teacher performs a variety of instructional tasks in the classroom to assist in the day to day operations of the assigned Head Start Center.
Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.30

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A Child Development Associate credential, or be willing to be enrolled in a CDA credential program that will be completed within 2 years, or have an Associates or Baccalaureate Degree (in any area) or be in a program leading to such a degree, and one year of experience working with preschool children.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work in close proximity to moving vehicles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
