Job summary

The Goddard School of Carmel (Westfield), IN is seeking a motivated and caring Assistant Teacher for our 1-2 year old classroom. You will support the Lead Teacher in creating engaging programs and ensuring a safe, stimulating environment, bringing energy and creativity to a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Pass state background checks and meet state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing age-appropriate lesson plans.
• Support children's social, emotional, cognitive and physical development through active engagement and positive interactions.
• Prepare classroom materials and ensure a safe, clean and inviting learning environment.
• Supervise and provide individualized support to children and foster a sense of belonging.
• Assist in communicating with families about their child’s progress and daily activities.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and licensing regulations to ensure a secure environment.
• Support daily care routines, including diapering, toileting, and assisting with potty training, while promoting independence, dignity, and self-help skills in a nurturing learning environment.
