Assistant Tax Director



Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Tax Director with a CPA license to join their dynamic tax team. This senior-level professional will work closely with the Tax Director to provide comprehensive tax services to clients while helping manage staff and workflows. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities



Client Service & Tax Planning

• Develop and recommend tax strategies and solutions that support clients' business goals and objectives
• Meet directly with clients to discuss tax matters, planning opportunities, and compliance requirements
• Work collaboratively with business owners and other clients to provide advice on tax planning and business issues
• Prepare complex tax returns for high-value clients and entities
  
  

Team Leadership & Management

• Help manage, direct, and oversee client engagement teams
• Challenge team assumptions and work product to ensure highest quality deliverables
• Manage staff workload and assist with resource allocation
• Provide technical tax training to staff members
• Review and approve tax returns and other work output prepared by team members
  
  

Technical Excellence

• Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and industry developments
• Apply technical knowledge to complex tax situations
• Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations
• Identify tax saving opportunities for clients
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• CPA license preferred; Enrolled Agent (EA) credential may be considered
• 10+ years of experience in external tax accounting
• Demonstrated proficiency in technical tax writing and research
• Strong experience preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
• Ability to work quickly and independently in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, QuickBooks, and various tax software programs
• Exceptional client service orientation
