Description

About Coyote Tanks Inc.

Coyote Tanks Inc. is a leader in API tank manufacturing, delivering high-quality products with speed, precision, and accountability. Coyote Tanks builds critical equipment for the energy and industrial sectors out of the Utah Basin. We operate with a lean manufacturing mindset—no chaos, no excuses, just results.

We are growing fast, and our people are the reason. This role exists to make sure that as we scale, we stay a place where skilled, motivated people want to build their careers.

Position Summary

The Assistant Night Shift Production Manager supports the Night Shift Production Manager in leading tank production on the night shift and runs the shift in the Night Shift Production Manager’s absence. This role helps direct night shift crews, execute the tank shop pull plan, track production status and ERP updates, coordinate materials, and ensure clear handoffs with the day shift.

This position requires strong leadership potential, organization, attention to detail, clear communication, and the ability to make sound decisions during hours when other members of management are not typically on site. The Assistant Night Shift Production Manager helps remove barriers, improve visibility, and ensure that accurate information flows between night shift, day shift, purchasing, quality, shipping, and management, while developing toward a full production management role in a fast-paced steel fabrication environment.

Performance Expectations/KPIs
  • Night shift production targets and pull plan milestones are supported, and production status is updated accurately every shift.
  • Shift safety meetings, inspections, and corrective-action follow-up are completed consistently, and hazards and incidents are reported promptly.
  • Quality and inspection documentation is complete, and nonconformances and rework are tracked through completion.
  • ERP job information, labor entries, and production documentation are entered accurately and on time.
  • Shift-to-shift handoffs are complete, documented, and communicated to the day shift every day.
  • 5-S, attendance tracking, and crew support contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient night shift.

Night Shift Hours: 4:0pm-12:30am

*Must be 18 years or older to apply*

Key Responsibilities
Safety & Quality Support
  • Assist with leading shift safety meetings, enforce PPE and safe work procedures, and help ensure all night shift employees are working safely.
  • Report incidents, near misses, and hazards promptly, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support shop-floor quality checks by documenting inspection results, nonconformances, rework items, and completion status.
  • Communicate safety or quality concerns promptly to the Night Shift Production Manager.
Scheduling & Production Coordination
  • Assist with executing the tank shop pull plan on night shift and keeping schedule information accurate and visible.
  • Update production status as work is completed, delayed, or reassigned.
  • Help lead start-of-shift and end-of-shift meetings and Gemba walks, and prepare information for schedule reviews.
  • Track open action items and follow up with responsible parties to help prevent schedule delays.
  • Communicate schedule risks, material shortages, equipment issues, or coordination concerns to the Night Shift Production Manager.

  • Assist with assigning work and directing night shift crews, and support supervisors and employees in getting the job done safely.
  • Track attendance, time, and shift coverage, and report staffing issues to the Night Shift Production Manager.
  • Help onboard and train new night shift employees, and report performance or conduct concerns to the Night Shift Production Manager in line with company policy.
  • Help prepare and deliver a documented handoff to the day shift each shift covering status, priorities, issues, and open action items.
  • Serve as shift lead in the absence of the Night Shift Production Manager, making timely decisions and escalating issues to the Plant Manager when needed.
ERP, Documentation & Administrative Support
  • Enter, update, and verify job information in the ERP system as directed by the Night Shift Production Manager.
  • Assist with labor tracking, job costing support, production reports, and closeout documentation.
  • Help identify missing or inaccurate information so it can be corrected before it impacts production, purchasing, or billing.
  • Maintain organized shift records for schedules, material requests, job packets, inspections, and completed work
Materials & Resource Coordination
  • Assist with preparing and submitting material requests to procurement.
  • Help monitor consumables, gases, raw materials, and job‑specific materials to reduce shortages and interruptions.

  • Report equipment breakdowns, maintenance needs, and tooling if prompt to minimize downtime.
