The Kroll Family Aquatics Center at the Sid Jacobson JCC is seeking energetic, reliable, and technically proficient Assistant Swim Team Coaches to support the SJJCC Barracudas competitive swim program for the 2026–27 season. Coaches will work directly on deck conducting structured workouts, refining stroke mechanics, and supporting competitive age-group swimmers.
Key Responsibilities:
On-Deck Coaching & Technique: Deliver active, deck-level stroke analysis, interval training, and technique refinement across designated age groups and practice waves.
Practice Execution & Deck Safety: Maintain active deck supervision, assist with equipment setups, run lane intervals on the pace clock, and uphold pristine safety standards during practice blocks.
Meet Support: Attend scheduled home and away dual/championship swim meets to organize swimmer staging, provide race feedback, and support team operations.
Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with the Aquatics Manager and coaching team to ensure consistent training progression and positive athlete culture.
Target Availability Required:
Weekday late afternoons / early evenings: Monday through Thursday, 4:30 PM – 8:00 PM (specific wave assignments to be determined).
Weekend availability for scheduled swim meets and stroke clinics.
Qualifications, Requirements, and Compensation:
Competitive swimming or competitive swim coaching background (USA Swimming, high school, collegiate, or Y/JCC league experience preferred).
Strong communication skills, punctuality, and enthusiasm for youth athlete development.
Current American Red Cross CPR-AED for Professional Rescuers and/or Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification (preferred, or ability to obtain prior to season launch). CPR Pro training can be provided by SJJCC if necessary.
$18–$21/hr based on experience.
