Job summary

YMCA of Western North Carolina is seeking a part-time Swim Team Assistant Coach to lead practice groups, teach stroke techniques, and attend meets. You will communicate with swimmers and parents, ensure safety, and uphold the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Roles include maintaining records, coordinating with staff, and supporting program activities. The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of competitive swimming experience, coaching preferred, and current CPR/AED,

Qualifications

• 1-year minimum experience as a competitive swimmer required.
• Coaching experience preferred; instructional experience acceptable if no coaching background.
• Current safety certifications including CPR & AED, First Aid, Lifeguarding or Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and leads practice sessions for designated groups.
• Teaches and corrects stroke techniques for injury prevention and competition.
• Attends swim meets and meetings as designated by Swim Team Director.
• Maintains safety and discipline, communicates with swimmers and parents.
• Upholds YMCA values and professionalism at all times.
