Assistant Swim Coach- Diving (Contractual)

Job Summary

Towson University (TU) is one of the nation’s top 100 public universities. Located north of Baltimore, TU currently enrolls over 19,000 students and is the second-largest university in the University System of Maryland. As a Division I member of the Coastal Athletics Association, TU is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach for Diving. Under the direction of the head coach, this role involves teaching and instructing diving, as well as assisting in planning, promoting, and managing a Division I Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving program.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide skill instruction for student-athletes, including planning and implementing a season-long training program.
  • Assist with recruiting and evaluating prospective student-athletes using media technologies, organizing visits, managing budgets, and tracking admissions, all in compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Support academic programs, fundraising, community engagement, and alumni outreach. Coordinate with the Life Skills Program Director and maintain records of student-athlete participation.
  • Assist with meet operations, including travel, accommodations, and equipment management.
  • Adhere to NCAA rules and complete required logs and reports within ARMS and the Office of Compliance Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.

Work hours include weekends as needed, with travel required.

Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate or senior-level club coaching experience
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification (must be obtained within first three months)
  • Lifeguard and Coaches Safety Training (must be obtained within first three months)
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules
  • Ability to develop and implement training plans
  • Recruitment skills for prospective student-athletes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the athletics department and university
  • Ability to confidently lead training sessions for both men and women
Preferred Qualification:
  • Experience as a student-athlete
Salary and Benefits

$17.74 per hour, with a contract that includes holidays and sick days. Employees working 30+ hours weekly may be eligible for health benefits. The position is contingent on funding. For more details, see our benefits information and perks.
