Job summary

YMCA of the Grand Rapids Area is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach to support coached practices and meet duties under the Head Coach, contributing to a high-quality competitive swim program.

The role requires morning, afternoon, and weekend availability, with responsibilities including planning practices, attending meets, and maintaining certifications. The position offers a starting pay of $20.00 per hour and includes a free YMCA membership.

Qualifications

• Swim Instructor Certification required.
• CPR for rescue required.
• First Aid certification required within first 30 days.
• AED-Oxygen certification required within first 30 days.
• Blood Borne Pathogen training.
• Child Abuse Prevention training.
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist coaching the team with functions related to swim team program.
• Plan and execute daily practices for all ages and levels of groups assigned.
• Communicate with coaching team, swimmers, and parents on progress of swimmers.
• Attend meets on regular basis.
• Maintain up-to-date certifications and attend YMCA trainings (CPR, First Aid, COVID protocols).
