Job summary

Scioto Country Club in Columbus, OH, invites applications for a part-time Swim Coach/Lifeguard to support daily aquatic programs. The role requires lifeguard and safety certifications, with coaching participation in practices and meets. You will help manage lessons, ensure safety, and uphold exceptional member service.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching swimming or lifeguarding is preferred.
• Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required.
• American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Swim Coach in coaching the club's swim team.
• Attend and participate in club swim meets and competitions.
• Report complaints, emergencies, hazards, or faulty equipment to Head Swim Coach.
• Maintain certifications per USA Swimming.
• Render First Aid as certified when needed.
• Serve as lifeguard as instructed by Head Swim Coach.
• Maintain attendance records for lessons.
• Charge members for all lessons conducted.
• Maintain courteous relationships with members and guests.
• Perform other tasks requested by Head Swim Coach.

Job Summary:

Assists Head Swim Coach in coaching the club’s swim team. Highly active in daily activities and practices. Ability to teach private swimming lessons and does so in a safe and responsible manner.

• Assists in coaching swim practices.
• Attends and participates in club swim meets and competitions.
• Reports all complaints, emergencies, hazards, or faulty equipment to the Head Swim Coach.
• Maintains all necessary certifications per USA Swimming.
• Assists in rendering First Aid according to the standards established by certifying agency.
• Serves as a lifeguard when instructed by the Head Swim Coach.
• Maintains attendance records of members and children attending lessons.
• Charges members for all lessons conducted.
• Maintains a courteous, polite, and helpful relationship with all members and guests.
• Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Head Swim Coach.

Education and/or Experience:

• Some High School required.
• Competitive swimming experience as coach or athlete preferred.
• Lifeguard training and some experience teaching swim lessons required.
• Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate.
• American Red Cross Basic CPR/First Aid/AED certifications required.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations:

• Training in rescue and surveillance techniques and blood-borne pathogens.
• Participates in pool safety programs and risk management.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.

Physical Requirements, Working Conditions and Other factors:

• Working conditions are often hot, humid, slippery, and wet.
• Able to work in a busy, noisy environment.
• Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an aquatics environment.
• Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
