Assistant Surveyor – Global Service Delivery Team

What we’re looking for

As an Assistant Surveyor with Lloyds Register you will join a structured programme designed to help you develop the skills and knowledge to progress your early career. We will provide you with all the technical skills and experience you need to become a fully qualified Maritime surveyor. We will give you both the time and the opportunity to acquire a considerable knowledge base through in-depth training from a range of industry-leading experts, while honing your practical skills in a placement.

The role

You will:

  • Conduct relevant activities as agreed in personal training plan with the aim of increasing knowledge and competency in the execution of survey and other related work
  • Assist manager in producing deliverables within projects and produce own training within agreed timescales and of appropriate quality
  • Understand all LR services and be able to discuss and present the deliverable with the internal clients initially and later external clients and be able to suggest solutions where appropriate
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards
  • To pursue Initial Professional Development by developing, maintaining, and documenting both technical and non-technical knowledge to support achieving CEng status
  • To appreciate the time and value of the work to be undertaken for an external client by understanding and assisting with quotes and survey fee calculations
  • To give guidance to other employees, as appropriate, and disseminate information to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application
  • To assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external client feedback as appropriate
  • Ensure Marine Training Records are kept and that the appropriate authorisations are gained in accordance with your development plan
  • Undertake routine administration as required in line with current processes and procedures

What you bring

You will need:

  • A bachelor degree or higher from a recognized institution within a relevant field such as Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • The ability to use a combination of general and specialist engineering knowledge and understanding to apply existing and emerging technology
  • To be able to apply appropriate theoretical and practical methods to design, develop, manufacture, construct, commission, operate and maintain engineering products, processes, systems and services
  • To be a good team player with ability to take own initiative to meet business and personal objectives
  • Fluency in the English language, both written and spoken, with ability to communicate effectively internally and externally. Any other local language capability would be an advantage

  • Is effective at solving problems, troubleshooting and making timely decisions
