At Episcopal Community Services (ECS), employees work with participants who may be experiencing homelessness, behavioral health conditions, substance use challenges, and other difficult life circumstances. While this work is meaningful and mission-driven, it can at times be stressful, demanding, or unpredictable. Employees are expected to exercise sound judgment, remain aware of their surroundings, follow established safety, communication, and de-escalation procedures, participate in all required trainings, and promptly report incidents, threats, injuries, or unsafe conditions, in accordance with ECS policies and procedures. This position is a fully onsite, client-facing role that requires in-person interaction and direct service delivery to participants at ECS program locations. Due to the essential nature of the duties and the need for consistent in-person engagement with clients, remote work or work-from-home arrangements are not available for this position. SALARY: External Candidates: $78,324 - $79,499 Internal Candidates: $80,674 - $81,849 Based On Longevity

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Case Management Duties:
  • While providing supervisory functions, the Assistant Support Services Manager will maintain a resident caseload as deemed appropriate by the Support Services Manager.
  • Adhere to all protocols governing provision of services to Housing residents.
  • Perform initial intake assessment of assigned residents on day of move-in and submit to the Support Services Manager within 3 business days of resident move-in.
  • Assessment to include a review of health status, psychosocial history, financial status, history of drug and alcohol use, housing history, etc.
  • Provide residents on-site case management and supportive services on an ongoing basis within scope of practice.
  • Refer to other in-house provider or outside community resources regarding issues related to substance (ab)use, vocational training, legal services, immigration services, physical and mental health services, housing resources, money management, etc.
  • The case manager will have a good working knowledge of community resources and methods of accessibility.
  • Perform interviews with housing applicants to assess specific needs and assist in case-planning if applicants are offered housing.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and overseeing new programs, groups, and activities with the Support Services Manager.
  • Work with residents regarding budgeting issues, including the development of voluntary money management plans.
  • Advocate on behalf of residents regarding property management concerns and benefit issues.
  • Develop and facilitate at least one weekly therapeutic / psycho-educational group at the site.
  • As directed by the SSM, assist with the organization and carrying-out of other program events and community-building activities, such as Residents Council, BINGO, BBQs, holiday celebrations, community meetings and meals, movie viewings, outings, etc.
  • Assist residents or staff with conflict resolution, in coordination with any Residents Council and Support Service staff to ensure a comfortable living environment for all residents that promotes a sense of respect, cooperation, self-sufficiency and tenant empowerment; to include all appropriate staff members and residents.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation in resident files regarding services provided in a complete, confidential, and professional manner.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork including monthly statistics, etc., in a timely manner.
Supervisory Duties:
  • Assist with the supervision of case management site staff, including scheduling, processing payroll, completing appropriate personnel-related documentation, and assisting with performance evaluations.
  • Communicate all relevant program issues to Support Services Manager in a timely manner for feedback and/or approval, e.g. petty cash, crises, staff issues, etc.
  • Assist Support Services Manager in evaluating and achieving Support Services programmatic operations and contractual obligations.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting of data collection procedures associated with ECS needs and funding for City contracts.
  • Provide support and assistance to Support Services staff, including but not limited to training of new staff, acting as liaison to outside agencies, case consultation, etc.
  • Serve as acting Support Services Manager when deemed appropriate and/or necessary by the designated Support Services Manager or the Director of Housing Services.
  • Attend all meetings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsREQUIREMENTS:
  • M.S.W. or M.A. degree in psychology, counseling, social work strongly preferred.
  • LCSW or MFT license strongly preferred.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience and prior work with homeless/very low income adults preferred.
  • Candidates must possess a good working knowledge and sensitivity to adults with mental health issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, and/or HIV/AIDS.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency in working with diverse populations and the ability to communicate in Spanish is desirable.
  • Be able to quickly assess and respond to a variety of situations, including medical emergencies, conflict resolution and intervention, and other tenant emergencies.
  • Possess a working knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and be able to implement them.
  • Excellent charting, recordkeeping, and written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with San Francisco-based substance use, mental health, and health care resources.
  • Maintain professional, respectful, honest interactions with residents, staff and outside resources.
  • Be committed to the mission and values of Episcopal Community Services.
  • Be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Be sensitive to a diverse tenant and staff population.
  • Be able to facilitate training sessions and effective support/tenant groups.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must have a working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize and perform a variety of tasks in an active environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience with non-profit organizations serving disadvantaged people preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must secure finger image screening and annual TB screening.
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the position which may include long periods at a desk and/or computer workstation, and lifting of up to 25 lbs.
