Salary: $78,324.00 – $81,849.00 (External: $78,324 – $79,499; Internal: $80,674 – $81,849 based on longevity)

At Episcopal Community Services (ECS), employees work with participants who may be experiencing homelessness, behavioral health conditions, substance use challenges, or other difficult life circumstances. This role is fully onsite, client‑facing and requires direct service delivery in person at ECS program locations. Remote or work‑from‑home arrangements are not available.

Employees are expected to exercise sound judgment, remain aware of their surroundings, follow established safety, communication, and de‑escalation procedures, participate in all required trainings, and promptly report incidents, threats, injuries, or unsafe conditions in accordance with ECS policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Support the Support Services Manager (SSM) in oversight and development of the Support Services program at designated housing site(s).
  • Share supervision of case management services and staff, while maintaining a client caseload and providing case management services to designated residents.
  • Maintain resident caseload and conduct initial intake assessment of assigned residents on day of move‑in; submit assessment to SSM within three business days.
  • Provide on‑site case management and supportive services, and refer residents to internal or external resources for substance (ab)use, vocational training, legal, immigration, medical, and housing services.
  • Conduct interviews with housing applicants to assess needs and assist in case‑planning.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and overseeing new programs, groups, and activities with the SSM.
  • Work with residents on budgeting, including development of voluntary money‑management plans.
  • Advocate on behalf of residents regarding property management and benefit issues.
  • Develop and facilitate at least one weekly therapeutic/psycho‑educational group; assist with program events and community‑building activities such as Residents Council, BINGO, BBQs, holiday celebrations, meetings, meals, movie viewings, outings.
  • Assist residents or staff with conflict resolution to promote a respectful, cooperative, and tenant‑empowered living environment.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date documentation in resident files; complete monthly statistics and other required paperwork.
  • Assist with supervision of case‑management site staff (scheduling, payroll, personnel documentation, performance evaluations).
  • Communicate program issues to SSM for feedback and approval (petty cash, crises, staff issues).
  • Assist SSM in evaluating and achieving programmatic operations and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor and report data collection procedures for ECS needs and funding.
  • Provide support and assistance to staff, including training of new staff, liaison to outside agencies, case consultation.
  • Serve as acting SSM when designated.
  • Attend assigned meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • M.S.W. or M.A. in psychology, counseling, social work preferred; LCSW or MFT license preferred.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous clinical experience and work with homeless/very low‑income adults preferred.
  • Good working knowledge and sensitivity to adults with mental health issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, and/or HIV/AIDS.
  • Cultural competency and ability to communicate in Spanish desirable.
  • Ability to assess and respond quickly to medical emergencies, conflict resolution, and other tenant emergencies; knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Excellent charting, record‑keeping, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with San Francisco–based substance use, mental health, and health care resources.
  • Professional, respectful, honest interactions with residents, staff, and outside resources.
  • Commitment to ECS mission and values.
  • Team player in a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Facilitate training sessions and support/tenant groups.
  • Computer skills; working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Prior experience with non‑profit organizations serving disadvantaged people preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and balance multiple projects and deadlines.
Other Requirements
  • Secure finger image screening and annual TB screening.
  • Meet physical requirements: long periods at a desk or computer workstation, lifting up to 25 lbs.
