Job summary

Shrub Oak International School (SOIS) seeks a Pines Assistant Supervisor to lead daily operations on-site, oversee Youth Care Specialists, and support clinical and education teams. You will balance direct care duties with supervisory responsibilities, contributing to a DBT-informed therapeutic milieu and safe student engagement.

The role requires a minimum of 2 years in residential/educational settings, strong crisis-management skills, and experience guiding staff.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; bachelor s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in residential, clinical, or educational settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline support for daily operations and programming during assigned shifts.
  • Assist in delegating tasks and overseeing Youth Care Specialists (YCS) to ensure proper coverage and support.
  • Maintain responsibility for direct care duties while supporting leadership functions on the floor.
  • Support implementation of individualized treatment plans, behavioral interventions, and DBT-informed programming.
  • Coordinate shift handoffs and team communication while supporting staff scheduling to ensure continuity of care and adequate coverage.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors, Clinicians, and Education staff to support coordinated student care.
  • Provide real-time intervention and de-escalation support during crisis situations.
  • Support student engagement and skill development in academic, residential, and recreational settings.
  • Assist education and recreation teams with in-class and programmatic support (shift dependent).
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and program expectations to maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Complete administrative tasks including documentation, incident reports, progress tracking, and operational support.
  • Serve as a resource for staff and students during shift operations.
  • Step into supervisory responsibilities when the Supervisor is unavailable and participate in required meetings, training, and professional development.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in residential, clinical, or educational settings is required. Team lead, trainer or other supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, and/or psychiatric acuity preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral intervention and crisis management required; DBT experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to support, guide, or mentor staff in a team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including documentation and collaboration, along with computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and related systems.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with evolving priorities while demonstrating strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required by shift schedule.
  • Ability to get TCIS trained and complete/maintain all required trainings.
  • You must be able to ambulate around the campus, including hills, stairs, grass and gravel.
    • Must be able to react and move quickly during student crisis, both for the safety of the student and for the staff.
    • Must be able to run across the campus and throughout the school to catch/monitor an eloping student, and/or to remove yourself from an unsafe situation.
    • You must be able to pass TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training for Schools).
    • Must be able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, crouch or kneel for sustained periods of time if implementing a hold.
