Job Responsibilities:
  • Implement and adapt on‑and off‑campus internship programming, assessing effectiveness and modifying plans with guidance from the Assistant Transition Coach.
  • Monitor student progress toward IEP goals and provide support across classroom and transition settings.
  • Support students’ progress toward independence and collect data during transition activities.
  • Assist students with routine physical, personal​ care, and self​ care needs, as well as behavior management.
  • Transport students in a company vehicle to day to day activities.
  • Prepare and adapt materials, equipment, and assistive devices as needed for student use.
  • Provide classroom and staff coverage as needed and completes clerical tasks such as filing, scheduling, phone calls, and classroom preparation.
  • Build positive relationships with students and peers and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Respond to crises using SOIS protocols, de‑escalates situations, and reports emergencies promptly according to policy.
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed at all times.

Position Requirements:
  • BA in Education, Mental Health, Human Services or similar is preferred. A Masters in any related field as described is preferred.
  • 2+ Years of experience working with similar student populations is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a DMV driving abstract screening preferred; ability to transport students in a company vehicle may be required.
  • Knowledge of and experience with crisis prevention and intervention strategies and practices, and behavior intervention plans.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of English, spelling, vocabulary and mathematics.
  • Passionate about working with and mentoring students (adolescents and young adults) within the area of responsibilities, all to empower his/her self-determination, self-advocacy and development.
  • Due to the nature of work in supporting our students, all job description list the physical requirements for that position.
  • Our campus consists of some paved areas but primarily consists of grass, gravel paths and parking lots. Additionally, many areas of our building are fully accessible, however, as a historic building some areas are only accessible by stairs.
  • You must be able to ambulate around the campus, including hills, stairs, grass and gravel.
  • Student Facing Positions: Must be able to react and move quickly during student crisis, both for the safety of the student and for the staff.
    • Must be able to run across the campus and throughout the school to catch/monitor an eloping student, and/or to remove yourself from an unsafe situation.
    • Must be able to pass TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training for Schools).
    • Must be able to bend, stretch, sit, stand, crouch or kneel for sustained periods of time if implementing a hold.
