Job summary

Enviva Lp is seeking an Assistant Shift Supervisor to support operations in the pellet manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will assist the shift supervisor in achieving production goals while ensuring proper record-keeping and training of new staff. This role involves working in a dynamic industrial environment that requires mechanical aptitude and adherence to safety standards.

Job description

The Assistant Shift Supervisor provides support to the shift supervisor, ensures the team meets shift production goals, back up team leader.

Responsibilities

  • Work with all team members in each area in day-to-day operations.
  • Fill in areas when personnel are absent if staffing is not available.
  • Train new hires when needed.
  • Back up team leader on all fronts of Pellet Mill/ Hammermill operation.
  • Follow up on daily shift testing to make sure within spec and if not communicate to the team leader.
  • Should own the 5s procedure with all that applies.
  • Must be able to multitask by balancing multiple items throughout the process.
  • Perform/coordinate housekeeping daily/weekly for shift swaps to maintain to required standard, also walk with Safety manager during housekeeping audit monthly.
  • Escalate issues promptly for proper resolution

  • Experience in a pellet manufacturing environment preferred

Working conditions

  • Must be available to work any shift/any day required; overtime is frequent
  • Must be able to work in environments that reach temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees.
  • Able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment.
  • Able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

Physical requirements

  • Climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces on an occasional basis up to 100 ft
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift items up to 50 lbs
  • Able to frequently walk or stand in addition to the capability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift items above shoulders on an occasional basis
  • Must use required/provided PPE (i.e. safety glasses, hard hat, steel toe boots & hearing protection)
