Job Summary

1.To assist in supervising and coordinating daily broiler farm operations while ensuring productivity, bird welfare, and adherence to biosecurity standards.

2.To support farm management in meeting production targets and provide guidance and basic training to farm workers.

Duties of Job

Broiler Farm Operations Oversight
? Supervise day-to-day operations including mortality checks, litter management, ventilation, feeding, and watering.
? Ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of poultry houses, including proper storage of equipment and materials.
1.Oversee house preparation for Day-Old Chick (DOC) arrivals.
2.Monitor and report on feed and water consumption.
3.Follow up on flock performance metrics (weight gain, mortality rate, feed conversion).
4. Enforce and monitor compliance with all biosecurity protocols.

Leadership and Coordination
1.Lead and coordinate a team of farm workers to ensure operational efficiency.
2.Ensure team adherence to daily work schedules and farm protocols.
3.Provide basic on-the-job training and guidance to workers.
4.Foster a goal-oriented and productive team culture aligned with farm performance targets.
5.Ensure that all employees adhere and respect all safety protocols such wearing of uniforms & PPEs.
6.Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
7.Help in handling employee issues and conflicts which may arise during the course of work.

Shift and Emergency Duties
1.Work flexible hours based on a rotating shift system.
2.Be available during weekends, public holidays, and natural disasters (e.g., cyclones, floods).
3.Assist other Assistant Supervisors in managing farm emergencies or unusual situations.

Reporting and Administration
1.Prepare basic operational reports using digital tools (Excel, Word).
2.Maintain accurate records of daily farm activities.
3.Report issues or anomalies promptly to the Operation Officer.
4.Use computer systems for data entry and performance tracking.
5.Assist in managing the time & attendance of employees by keeping an up-to-date record of employees.

Skills/Competencies

-Minimum 2 years’ experience in broiler poultry farm operations.
-Sound knowledge of:
o Mortality monitoring
o Litter and ventilation management
o Cleaning and disinfection procedures
o Chick house preparation for DOC arrival
o Feed and water consumption follow up
o Biosecurity and flock performance metrics
-Computer literate and capable of preparing basic reports.
-Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise and train others.
-Goal-oriented and focused on achieving production targets.
-Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and under emergency conditions.
-Must possess a valid motorcycle licence and personal motorcycle.
-Physically fit and capable of lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
-Residing in or near L’Escalier or Camp Diable is preferred.
-Must provide a valid certificate of good character.
-Willingness to learn, improve processes, and adapt to changing farm needs.
