Job summary

Structure Tone Southwest is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to develop, manage, and execute a job plan under the Site Superintendent and Project Manager on commercial projects.

The role oversees scheduling, field coordination of subcontractors, safety, quality control, and progress reporting; ensures alignment with client expectations and project budget. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in construction management and supervisory experience in commercial construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Prefer 2–5 years of field experience in commercial projects
  • Experience should include some supervisory responsibility as a General Foreman, Project Engineer or Assistant Superintendent

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the project schedule and maintains reports describing project status
  • Oversees timely and cost-effective field coordination, quality control and day-to-day supervision of subcontracted work forces
  • Reviews status and progress with the Project Manager and client representatives regularly
  • Ensures safety standards are implemented and adhered to by craftsmen on site
  • Directs subcontractors within commercial fit-out projects for interiors
  • Analyzes manpower, material, and equipment requirements and coordinates with the supervising superintendent
  • Implements policies, procedures, and work rules established by field construction management
  • Prepares reports and forecasts and keeps supervisors informed on progress
  • Ensures safety standards and proper operation of tools and equipment by personnel on site
  • Combines engineering methods, construction methods, and people management to drive project success

Summary

Under the guidance of the Site Superintendent and in partnership with the Project Manager, the Assistant Superintendent at Structure Tone Southwest develops, manages, and completes a job plan for an assigned job.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepares the project schedule, maintains reports accurately describing project status
  • Responsible for the timely and cost‑effective field coordination, quality control and day‑to‑day supervision of subcontracted work forces for construction projects
  • Reviews status and project progress with the Project Manager and client representatives on a regular basis. Large projects include multiple Superintendents.
  • Ensures safety standards and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craftsmen and others when operating tools and equipment.
  • Directs sub‑contractors activities within commercial fit‑outs for interior projects
  • Analyzes manpower, material, equipment requirements, and interfaces the requirements with others as designated by supervising superintendent.
  • Implements and enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction Management
  • Prepares reports and forecasts, as required, and keeps supervisors informed on progress of overall assigned activities
  • Ensures safety standards and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craftsmen and others when in the operational area, tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Combining knowledge of engineering methods, construction methods and human management skills to ensure project success.
