Job summary

Applecross Country Club in Downingtown, PA is seeking an Assistant Superintendent & Irrigation Technician to support daily grounds maintenance and oversee the Rain Bird irrigation system, including pump stations. The role leads a mixed-season staff and reports to the Golf Course Superintendent.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years in grounds maintenance or a related field, a PA Category 7 pesticide license (or ability to obtain), and a strong work ethic with a commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required or equivalent.
• Associates degree in turfgrass maintenance or related field preferred.
• PA Category 7 pesticide license or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Experience in turf maintenance and irrigation systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily maintenance of club grounds and golf course.
• Oversee irrigation system upgrades and main pump station maintenance.
• Supervise year-round and seasonal maintenance staff.
• Schedule tasks and train staff on equipment safety and operation.
• Lead grounds crews during winter and peak seasons as needed.
• Perform course setup and aeration-related tasks as required.
