Job summary

Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park, CA, seeks an Assistant Superintendent to manage on-site golf course maintenance in the San Francisco Bay Area. This full-time role supports daily mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and recordkeeping to uphold premier course conditions.

You will supervise staff, coordinate schedules, monitor safety and equipment use, and collaborate with other departments to deliver an exceptional member/guest experience.

Qualifications

• Foundational turfgrass/agronomy knowledge and familiarity with golf course maintenance practices.
• Skills in irrigation system monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and routine equipment care.
• Supervisory and leadership abilities to train staff, delegate tasks, and uphold a safety-focused environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills to coordinate daily maintenance schedules and prioritize course needs.
• Effective communication with the Superintendent, team members, and other club departments.
• Commitment to workplace safety, reliable attendance, and ability to work early mornings, weekends and holidays.
• Relevant education in turf management or related field, or equivalent experience in golf course maintenance is beneficial.
• Familiarity with environmentally responsible practices and basic computer documentation is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist in mowing, irrigation, fertilization, and pest management to support optimal playing conditions.
• Supervise and train grounds staff; coordinate work schedules and safety practices.
• Monitor equipment use and safety; ensure inventory and maintenance records are up to date.
• Communicate course conditions, maintenance needs, and upcoming projects to the Superintendent.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain a high-quality member/guest experience.
