Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club seeks an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent who will coordinate daily maintenance, supervise staff, and uphold premier playing conditions. You will drive agronomic programs, monitor irrigation, and ensure safe, efficient operations with a culture of professionalism.

The role requires 2+ years in golf course maintenance, a turfgrass-related degree, and QAC/QAL certification or plan to obtain.

Qualifications

Associates or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or related field.
California Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) or Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
2+ years of progressive golf course maintenance experience, supervisory experience preferred.

Responsabilités

Coordinate and supervise daily golf course maintenance operations, adjusting staffing and priorities based on weather and agronomic needs.
Lead, train, coach, and develop employees with clear expectations and accountability.
Regularly inspect the golf course to assess turf health and playing conditions.
Assist with agronomic programs: mowing, irrigation, cultivation, aerification, topdressing, fertilization, plant protection, moisture management, pest control.
Monitor irrigation systems, soil moisture, drainage, and turf conditions; identify deficiencies and assist with corrective actions.
Ensure safe pesticide, fertilizer, and plant protection applications per guidelines and club policies.
Assist with daily course setup and preparation for member play and events.
Maintain consistently excellent course conditions and high-quality work.
Promote safe work practices and proper use of equipment and PPE.
Assist with staffing, evaluations, scheduling, timekeeping, and other personnel duties.
Assist with budgeting, purchasing, inventory, records, and daily maintenance documentation.
Coordinate with the Mechanic on equipment availability, repairs, and maintenance priorities.
Maintain clean, organized maintenance facilities, equipment, and work areas.
Support data-driven agronomic decisions using observations, moisture data, and weather conditions.
Communicate with Director of Agronomy and other departments regarding conditions and priorities.
Lead by example to foster professionalism, ownership, and teamwork.
