Job summary

ARCO/Murray National Construction is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to supervise site logistics, plan material deliveries, and coordinate with subcontractors while closely partnering with project managers to deliver high‑quality projects.

You will guide construction activities from preplanning through completion, ensuring safety, cost control, and schedule adherence for nationwide or regional projects.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of construction experience.
  • Ground up commercial or industrial experience preferred
  • Ability to travel across the country is required
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs

Responsibilities

  • Attend the post award review meeting to receive project information and details for preplanning prior to construction.
  • Prepare a schedule of construction activities, organization structure, staff, and equipment requirements.
  • Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and schedule.
  • Assist in duties of project manager/engineer including shipment of materials and approvals of shop drawings.
  • Coordinate subcontractors to integrate with project schedules and progress.
  • Inform supervisors and subcontractors of schedule changes promptly.
  • Assist in preparation of job progress and cost reports to reflect actual costs.
  • Review and approve requisitions, field PO’s, invoices, and other reports.
  • Cooperate with owner representatives and architects to support project goals.
  • Hold jobsite meetings with PM and regional manager.
  • Report regularly on progress, plans, and problems affecting costs or schedules.
  • Maintain a daily diary of project facts and approvals.
  • Direct adherence to ARCO’s safety program across all phases.

ARCO/Murray National Construction is currently seeking a highly motivated Assistant Superintendent to join our Mission Critical team. As an Assistant Superintendent you will be responsible for supervising site logistics, planning material deliveries, coordinating with subcontractors, and collaborating closely with project managers to deliver exceptional projects that reflect ARCO/Murray’s commitment to excellence.


A Day in the Life:


  • Attend the post award review meeting to receive project information and details for preplanning prior to construction

  • Participate with the project manager in preparing a schedule of construction activities and their sequence, the organization structure, staff selection, and the manpower and construction equipment requirements of the project

  • Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and within the allotted time schedule in an efficient manner to produce the expected profit

  • Assist in the activities of the project manager/engineer in their duties including prompt shipment of materials and permanent equipment, in obtaining approvals of shop drawings and material samples

  • Coordinate the activities of subcontractors to permit them to perform their work effectively and to integrate it with project schedules and progress

  • Inform all supervisors and subcontractors promptly of any construction schedule changes

  • Assist in the preparation of all job progress and cost reports to accurately reflect actual costs

  • Review and approve all requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other significant reports and documents

  • Cooperate with the owner and his representatives, keeping them informed of construction progress

  • Cooperate with architects or owner representatives on an amicable basis, but in the long term interest of the company

  • Hold jobsite meetings with project manager and the regional manager

  • Report regularly to the project manager to keep them constantly informed on job progress, plans, and problems that could significantly affect costs or schedules

  • Maintain a daily diary to permanently record all significant project facts, events, conditions, visitors, owner representative contacts, commitments, agreements and approvals

  • Direct adherence to the company’s safety program in all phases and areas of the project


Necessary Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of construction experience

  • Ground up commercial or industrial experience preferred

  • Pre-cast or tilt-up construction experience preferred

  • Ability to travel across the country is required

  • Computer skills: proficiency in using Word, Excel, Outlook, and project scheduling programs

  • Possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in your state of residence

Typical base compensation for the Assistant Superintedent role is between $80,000.00 - $115,000.00. Candidates with extensive experience may exceed this range. In addition to the base salary, the role is eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation based on individual and company performance.
