Job description

The Assistant Superintendent works with our Superintendents to gain management skills and coordinate all field construction activities during a project, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the high standards expected by Buch Construction and our clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support throughout all phases of the project, from preconstruction to closeout.
• Coordinate and review all field installations, verifying compliance with documents and all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Review and respond to submittals, RFIs, and document revisions.
• Coordinate all trades, including owners’ trades when appropriate, to maintain project schedules.
• Prepare weekly look‑ahead schedules for the Project Manager.
• Ensure required permits and licenses are obtained and coordinated with inspections.
• Prepare daily reports covering safety, quality, and site progress.
• Maintain as‑built record drawings for closeout packages.
• Lead from the field to build positive, harmonious working relationships and morale.
• Support environmentally responsible and sustainable construction practices.
• Promote and maintain a safe project site in accordance with Buch Safety Program and applicable laws.
• Learn and apply the inherent risks and hazards of the construction industry.

Requirements

The Assistant Superintendent must be willing to learn project drawings, specifications, and scheduling. Proficiency with technology (smartphone, tablet, laptop) is required, as is strong organization, time‑management, analytical, critical‑thinking, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Candidates should be self‑motivated, initiative‑driven, and prepared to grow into a leadership position.

All applicants must hold current First Aid, CPR and AED training, and an OSHA‑30 certification (OSHA‑40 for work in New York). Certifications will be provided if current certificates are unavailable.

Job Locations

Atlanta, GA – servicing the Atlanta Metropolitan and surrounding Southeast Region

Position Type

Full‑time. Candidates willing to travel and potentially work at night are encouraged, but must indicate such availability.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to perform physical labor and other strenuous tasks, including lifting up to 40 pounds, standing for long periods, traveling significant distances, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and crawling. Work may be required in all weather conditions.
