Job summary

The Related Group seeks an Assistant Superintendent to support project success across pre-construction to closeout. You will help manage safety, quality, scheduling, and coordination with architects and consultants, with occasional travel.

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will work with the project team and field staff to ensure standards are met, review shop drawings and RFIs, and help prepare monthly draws and project turnover with property management.

Job Description:

The Assistant Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to support the Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful completion of assigned projects. The Assistant Superintendent participates in overseeing job site safety, quality, project scheduling, and communications with the architect and consultants on field and constructability issues. Occasional travel is required. This position reports to the Superintendent.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist Superintendent with managing job site safety, quality, and schedule for assigned projects from pre-construction to closeout.
• Ensure The Related Group’s standards of quality and safety are adhered to by assertively championing The Related Group’s safety culture to project team and subcontractors.
• Work collaboratively with Project Manager, project team members, and field.
• Represent The Related Group in a professional manner.
• Handle material deliveries, quantities and acceptance of purchased materials under supervision of the Superintendent
• Verify site work compliance with regards to wet and dry utilities
• Verify foundation design and dimensions and foundation rough in work prior to concrete placement
• Walk and punch out building framing and MEP rough in prior to calling inspections
• Walk inspections with city officials
• Review shop drawings to verify compliance
• Monitor and oversee job site safety
• Assist Superintendent with schedule adherence
• Interface with property management
• Assist superintendent in field layout, drawing/spec compliance
• Coordinate testing and lab services and special inspections by consultants
• Document QA/QC compliance as required
• Assure subcontractor scope compliance
• Coordinate project turnover of interiors with property management
• Assist superintendent on monthly draws

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in managing the field and project team successfully and collaboratively.
• Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships and communication with client, Construction Manager, project team, consultants/architect/engineers, subcontractors, adjacent community, trade unions, governmental agencies.
• Assist with setting up job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
• Participate in the review all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
• Maintain and update project records including RFI’s, ASI’s and as-builts.
• Assist with creating and enforcing a site‑specific emergency action plan for assigned projects in collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate subcontractors.
• Coordinate with building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agencies.
• In collaboration with the Superintendent perform daily job site walks and submit daily safety audit reports
