At FCL, we don't just build structures- we build futures. As an Assistant Superintendent, you'll help lead field construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and at a level of quality that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Working closely with the Project Superintendent and project team, you'll coordinate subcontractors, support daily jobsite operations, and develop the experience needed to grow into larger field leadership responsibilities.

Why Join FCL Builders?

  • Make an Impact: You'll play a key role in projects that transform communities and serve industries nationwide.
  • Career Momentum: You'll gain hands-on experience alongside seasoned Project Managers and Superintendents while learning how to run projects from the ground up.
  • Employee Ownership: As part of our ESOP program, you're not just working for FCL—you’re helping build its future.
  • Supportive Growth: We foster a mentorship-based culture where you're encouraged to learn, lead, and level up.
  • People First: We've been certified a Great Place to Work three years running—and we don't take that lightly.
  • Stability + Innovation: We combine the legacy of experience with the ambition to innovate in every build.

What You'll Do:

Pre-Construction

  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and subcontractor scopes to understand project requirements.
  • Assist with project startup activities, including job setup, site logistics, existing-condition documentation, and coordination with the Project Manager, Project Engineer, and Project Superintendent.
  • Support coordination of required site plans, permits, inspections, SWPPP setup, and ICRA/ILSM forms as applicable.
  • Help plan construction activities from start to finish to support schedule, scope, budget, and quality goals.

Planning and Execution

  • Support the project team in monitoring job progress, costs, field conditions, and schedule impacts.
  • Complete accurate daily reports, logs, and progress photos.
  • Identify issues, discrepancies, and responsible parties, then assist with timely resolution.
  • Verify field measurements and help coordinate corrective action when needed.

Team and Peer Relationships

  • Build strong working relationships with owners, building teams, foremen, subcontractors, and internal project partners.
  • Support weekly construction meetings and daily subcontractor coordination discussions.
  • Communicate jobsite needs, expectations, schedules, and priorities clearly and consistently.

Safety

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure jobsite.
  • Enforce safety policies, PPE, fall protection, tenant safety, and building regulations.
  • Maintain construction barriers and complete client-required site walk-offs.

What We're Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of project supervision experience in industrial or large commercial construction environments
  • Extensive knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and safety procedures
  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Project
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed, valid driver’s license required

You’ll Be Able To:

  • Lift, carry, move, or position objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintain mobility on and around construction sites and inside the office.
  • Work in inclement weather and high-noise environments at times during site visits.
  • Work at a desk or computer screen with keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, kneeling, squatting, walking, and driving.

What We Offer:

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Career development and mentorship programs
  • Comprehensive and competitive benefits (health, dental, vision and so much more!)
