Job Title: Assistant SuperintendentJob Description

The Assistant Superintendent supports field operations on aviation construction projects, helping to manage daily site activities, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, safety, quality control, and project logistics. In this role, you work closely with Superintendents and Project Managers, applying your commercial construction experience and strong understanding of construction drawings and field operations. This position is ideal for someone who wants to grow into a construction leadership role while contributing to complex, high-profile aviation projects within an employee-owned environment.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day field operations on aviation construction projects, ensuring work progresses safely and efficiently.

• Assist with construction scheduling and look-ahead planning to keep activities aligned with project milestones and deadlines.

• Coordinate subcontractors on site, helping to sequence work, resolve conflicts, and maintain high standards of performance.

• Read and interpret blueprints, plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings to guide field activities and verify work in place.

• Contribute to construction safety efforts by applying OSHA 30 knowledge and promoting a strong safety culture on the jobsite.

• Participate in quality control processes, including inspections and verification of materials and workmanship against project requirements.

• Help manage jobsite logistics, including material deliveries, storage, and handling, to support smooth and organized field operations.

• Assist with problem solving and field issue resolution, working with Superintendents and Project Managers to address challenges quickly.

• Prepare daily reporting and project documentation, capturing site activities, progress, issues, and safety observations in a clear and timely manner.

• Collaborate closely with Superintendents and Project Managers to learn best practices in field leadership and project execution.

• Support coordination of complex construction activities in active aviation environments, helping to minimize disruption and maintain compliance with facility requirements.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of commercial construction experience, preferably in roles supporting field operations or supervision.
• Practical experience in construction management or construction supervision within commercial project environments.
• Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, including blueprints, plans, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Experience with field operations and site coordination, including organizing crews and activities on active job sites.
• Ability to assist with construction scheduling and look-ahead planning to support project timelines.
• Demonstrated skill in subcontractor management and coordination on construction projects.
• Knowledge of OSHA 30 standards and construction safety practices, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
• Experience with quality control processes and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and standards.
• Capability to manage or support jobsite logistics and material management, including deliveries and storage.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to contribute to resolving field issues in a timely and practical manner.
• Competence in daily reporting and project documentation, with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Experience on airport or aviation construction projects, including work in or around active facilities.
• Exposure to active facility construction, where operations continue during building activities.
• Background in public infrastructure projects, such as transportation or civic facilities.
• Familiarity with airside and landside construction environments and the unique requirements of aviation projects.
• Interest in growing into a Superintendent role and developing long-term leadership capabilities in construction.

Work Environment

The role is based near San Francisco International Airport, with a combination of office work and extensive field presence on active aviation construction sites. You spend significant time in the field coordinating daily operations, interacting with subcontractors, and observing work in progress, while also using nearby office space for planning, documentation, and meetings. Projects take place in and around an active airport environment, which requires careful attention to safety, logistics, and coordination with ongoing facility operations. The work setting emphasizes a strong safety culture, hands‑on collaboration with experienced aviation construction professionals, and exposure to large‑scale, complex airport projects. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Francisco, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
