Job summary

Conti Federal Services is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to oversee field operations, collaborating with the Project Management team to deliver safe, high-quality, and profitable projects. The role supports client relations and develops our workforce, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

The position requires managing schedules, cost controls, and coordinating with foremen on plan execution, while promoting a culture of safety and teamwork on site.

Qualifications

  • U.S. citizen required for security clearance.
  • Minimum five years in construction with federal exposure.
  • Experience with large-scale concrete placement is a plus.
  • Able to lead a diverse team.
  • Federal government project experience preferred.
  • Skilled in coordinating complex construction scopes and client demands.
  • Knowledge of earthwork, structures, mechanical, utilities, electrical.
  • Familiar with USACE EM385‑1‑1 safety requirements.
  • Excellent teamwork and decision making.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office, P6 Primavera, and basic knowledge of HCSS.
  • Local candidates preferred.

  • Pursues new work opportunities through client relationships.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This position does not require relocation, however, it requires rotational travel for a minimum of 3 weeks at a time, with one weekend home (typical).

General Position Description

The Assistant Superintendent helps control all field operations and work hand in hand with our Project Management team to construct a safe, high quality, highly profitable project. The Assistant Superintendent's role is key to creating great client relations and developing our greatest resource, our employees.

Responsibilities
  • Enforces all safety policies and must address safety violations among employees, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Completes the project through the use of the Quality Management System.
  • Sets production objectives with the crews and makes sure those objectives are communicated and enforced.
  • Heads the creation of the project schedule with the Project Manager and continually checks to see that the plan is being executed.
  • Creates an accurate Four Week Look Ahead schedule on a weekly basis and adheres to said schedule.
  • Implements effective cost control measures to maximize profits in all facets of the project including labor, material, equipment, and other expenditures.
  • Builds a team by securing top performers through interviewing, assessing, mentoring, and retaining them.
  • Works with foreman on planning, surveying, plan reading, efficiency, an economical crew size, quality of workmanship, and overall safety of the project to create the most economical build of the project as possible.
  • Attends daily huddles for communicating, resolving issues and sharing ideas so that projects can maintain efficiency and profitability.
  • Has extensive knowledge of the key operational details of the subcontract and holds the subcontractor to the agreement and the company's specifications.
  • Always seeks to keep the most efficient size fleet of equipment to maximize profits. Promotes culture of care for the equipment.
  • Seeks new work opportunities through client relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen for security clearance requirements.
  • Five or more years of experience in the construction industry with increasing responsibility in the Federal marketplace.
  • Experience with large‑scale concrete placement as a Concrete Foreman is a plus.
  • Ability to lead a diverse group.
  • Federal government experience preferred.
  • Must have experience leading complex construction projects and demonstrate ability to handle varying client demands and scope complexity.
  • Extensive knowledge of various areas of construction (earthwork, structures, mechanical, utilities, electrical, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of the Safety Requirements of USACE EM385‑1‑1.
  • Exceptional teamwork, communication, and people skills are essential.
  • Eager and pragmatic thinker with excellent decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple items simultaneously in a fast‑paced, challenging environment.
  • Strong time‑management system and excellent organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, P6 Primavera, and basic knowledge of HCSS.
  • Local candidates preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of the job site in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, or stretching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
