Job summary

  • Robert Trent Jones II Course (1989) – A classic parkland-style course with Bent/Poa sand-based greens, Meyer Zoysia fairways, and Penncross tees, featuring elevated greens, strategic bunkering, and stunning views of the Potomac River.
  • Greg Norman Championship Course (2004) – A modern links-style design with A1-A4 Bentgrass sand-based greens, Penn Trio fairways and tees, dramatic elevation changes, deep-faced bunkers, and risk-reward shotmaking.
  • Sharkbite (9-hole course) – A family-friendly yet challenging layout designed to sharpen short-game skills and introduce new players to the game.
Agronomic Complexity & Challenges
  • Varied Turfgrass Management – Working with multiple turf varieties (Bentgrass, Poa, Zoysia, and Bermuda) across different microclimates and soil conditions.
  • Mid-Atlantic Transition Zone – Managing cool-season turf in one of the most challenging agronomic regions in the U.S.
  • Irrigation & Drainage Management – Operating two advanced irrigation systems (Toro Lynx & Rain Bird Nimbus II) across 485 acres, along with subsurface drainage and moisture management strategies.
  • Pest & Disease Management – Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to combat Dollar Spot, Summer Patch, and Bentgrass Decline.
State-of-the-Art Equipment & Facilities
  • New lease equipment packages every two years.
  • Flowtronex MCI Pump Station for advanced irrigation efficiency.
  • Cart path repair projects to enhance playability and aesthetics.
  • Laser grading of tees for superior consistency and performance.
  • SOX pond erosion control projects to protect and restore critical areas.
  • Fleet of modern equipment – Including GPS-guided sprayers and advanced moisture meters.

Salary range: $75,000 - $80,000 annually

As an Assistant Superintendent, you won’t be limited to just one course—you’ll gain diverse experience across all three courses while working closely with the Director of Agronomy and Superintendents. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Daily course maintenance & playability enhancements.
  • Team leadership – training, developing, and managing staff.
  • Moisture management & turf health strategies.
  • Cultural practices and pesticide/fertilizer applications.
  • Project management – contributing to future capital improvements.
