GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant CAD Operator 1 to support Substation projects. This position involves working with engineering and technical experts in electrical substation and protections & controls design services. The successful candidate will perform CAD work, including red-lined engineering markups for substations and protection/control projects, and support engineering tasks under supervision.

Job Duties:

1. Open, revise, plot, and save CAD files.
2. Assist in compiling and verifying drawing and project document packages.
3. Understand plot profiles and user profiles in CAD.
4. Support CAD technicians and operators in skill development.
5. Learn multiple software platforms such as AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
6. Attend project meetings as required.
7. Manage multiple projects effectively under deadlines.
8. Work extended hours when necessary.
9. Help improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
10. Communicate effectively with project teams.

General Characteristics:

• Identify inconsistencies in drawings and communicate concerns.
• Follow verbal instructions accurately.

Minimum Experience:

• At least 1 year of related experience.

Education:

• Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Perform basic 2-D line work, text edits, plotting, and PDF creation.
• Follow QA/QC procedures and assist with office functions like printing and folding drawings.

Project and Task Management:

• Manage personal tasks and adhere to deadlines and scope.

Management Responsibilities:

• No management responsibilities; work independently.

Communication Skills:

• Possess basic oral and written communication skills; follow instructions accurately.
