General Summary & Scope

The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. This temporary role prepares talent for a stylist position, focusing on performance, guest service, and process adherence. Mentorship by an Elite or Master Stylist occurs during the first 3 months, with responsibilities expanding to servicing guests independently from months 4-6. A passion for beauty, excellent guest service, and willingness to learn are essential.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, demonstrating it through:

Performance

• Delivering exceptional guest service and supporting sales, loyalty, and shrink goals.
• Supporting mentor Stylists in meeting sales and productivity targets, including product recommendations, hair services, and retail.
• Performing hair services such as cuts, color, styling, treatments, and makeup after the initial training period.
• Driving sales through product demonstrations and supporting in-store events and promotions.
• Staying informed on industry trends and product knowledge.
• Maintaining prompt attendance.

People

• Building guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving guests efficiently, including walk-ins, under mentorship.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety, sanitation, and infection control standards.
• Following service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking systems to schedule and manage appointments.
• Communicating supply needs and maintaining store cleanliness.
• Attending training and adhering to dress code.
• Protecting assets and executing operational tasks as assigned.
