General Summary & Scope

The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. This is a temporary role designed to prepare talent for a stylist position, focusing on guest service, technical skills, and product knowledge. Mentorship from an Elite or Master Stylist occurs for the first 3 months, with responsibilities expanding in months 4-6 to include servicing guests independently.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, demonstrating it through:

Performance

• Delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to sales, loyalty, and shrink goals.
• Supporting mentor Stylist in meeting sales and productivity goals through recommendations, service support, and retail suggestions.
• Performing hair services after three months, including cuts, color, treatments, styling, and more.
• Conducting product demonstrations and supporting in-store events and promotions.
• Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services.
• Maintaining prompt attendance.

People

• Developing guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently, under mentorship.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting loyalty programs to guests.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Following service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Utilizing booking systems for appointments and events.
• Communicating supply needs and maintaining store standards.
• Attending trainings and adhering to dress code.
• Protecting assets and executing operational tasks.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

• Understanding of salon techniques, equipment, and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell products.
