General Summary & Scope

The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. This is a temporary role designed to prepare talent for a stylist position, focusing on performance, guest service, and operational procedures. Mentorship by an Elite or Master Stylist occurs during the first 3 months, with responsibilities expanding to servicing guests independently from months 4-6. A passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and willingness to learn technical skills are essential.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, demonstrating it through:

Performance

• Delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to store goals related to sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage.
• Supporting mentor Stylists in meeting sales and productivity goals through recommendations, service assistance, and retail suggestions.
• Performing hair services after initial training, including cuts, color, styling, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing.
• Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintaining punctuality and attendance.

People

• Building guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently under mentorship.
• Partnering with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and related benefits.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
• Following service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicating supply needs and maintaining store standards.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions

The pay range is $17.00/hour, with variations based on experience, location, and organizational needs.
