General Summary & Scope

The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. This temporary role prepares talent for a stylist position, focusing on guest service, technical skills, and product knowledge. Mentorship from an Elite or Master Stylist occurs in the first 3 months, with responsibilities expanding to servicing guests independently in months 4-6.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance

• Delivering exceptional guest service, meeting sales, loyalty, and shrink goals.
• Supporting mentor Stylist in sales and productivity, including recommendations, service execution, and retail.
• Performing hair services after the initial 3 months, including styling, coloring, treatments, and makeup.
• Driving sales through product demonstrations and supporting in-store events.
• Staying informed on industry trends and product knowledge.
• Maintaining prompt attendance.

People

• Developing guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently under mentorship.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program.

• Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Following sanitation and infection control protocols.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Cosmetology license required.
