Job summary

Sun Hill Properties Inc. is seeking an Assistant Storeroom Manager to oversee inventory control, receiving, storeroom operations, and procurement activities for our hotel portfolio.

The role drives timely, cost-effective procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution to support daily hotel operations, providing leadership to storeroom and receiving staff while partnering with hotel operations, culinary, finance, housekeeping, engineering, vendors, and corporate leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in hospitality or multi-unit operations, with prior supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily receiving, warehouse, and storeroom operations to ensure accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and distribution of products.
  • Verify deliveries against purchase orders, maintain organized storage areas, enforce FIFO inventory practices, and ensure proper inventory levels to support hotel operations.
  • Complete regular market price analyses, price benchmarking, competitive bid analyses and vendor pricing audits.
  • Assist with occasional price audits across all properties.
  • Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual inventories, investigate variances, and support inventory reconciliation and audit requirements.
  • Ensure all products are issued requisition, receiving, and inventory control procedures comply with company standards and controls.
  • Partner with hotel leadership, culinary teams, finance, engineering, housekeeping, and other departments to support operational purchasing needs.
  • Monitor purchasing expenditures, review invoice accuracy, assist with budget management, and analyze purchasing trends to improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain procurement records, vendor files, contracts, pricing databases, and purchasing reports.
  • Monitor compliance with brand standards, purchasing specifications, approval workflows, and corporate procurement policies.
  • Supervise and support Receiving Clerks, Storeroom personnel, and other assigned team members.
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management of storeroom staff
  • Coordinate departmental schedules to ensure adequate operational coverage and efficient workflow
  • Train hotel personnel on purchasing procedures, inventory controls, procurement systems, and company policies
  • Participate in departmental, property, and corporate meetings and support special projects as assigned
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized receiving and storage areas in compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and company standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management

Job description

The Assistant Storeroom Manager supports the department leadership in overseeing inventory control, receiving, storeroom operations, and procurement activities for Sun Hill’s portfolio of hotels. This position plays a key role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of products required to support daily hotel operations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

  • Knowledge of purchasing policies, internal controls, contract administration, and audit compliance
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments and properties
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with purchasing, inventory, and ERP systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial and operational information
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment

Schedule

Work schedules are based on the operational needs of the business. Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required for this position.

Physical, Mental and Environmental & Technical Demands

Fast-paced environment, multiple tasks to be handled under time constraint. Must be able to bend, crouch, kneel, and twist in the work area. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 250lbs. often for extended periods. Must be able to maneuver around property. Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to operate a computer, telephone, and copier. Must have manual dexterity to operate all office equipment. May include exposure to high levels of ambient noise for prolonged periods, must be able to perform essential job functions effectively in such conditions.
