Pet Supplies Plus is seeking an Assistant Store Team Leader to partner with the Store Team Leader in running daily store operations, developing team leaders, and driving performance. You will recruit, coach, and support staff while ensuring strong customer service and adherence to standards.

The role requires 2+ years of retail leadership, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work a flexible schedule.

Position Overview-

The Assistant Store Team Leader (Assistant Manager) partners with the Store Team Leader in the overall leadership and operation of the store. Building upon the responsibilities of Department Managers and Shift Supervisors, this position takes broader responsibility for store performance, team development, staffing, operational execution, and the development of other store leaders.

Key Responsibilities-

• Partner with the Store Team Leader in the day-to-day leadership and operation of the entire store.
• Provide leadership and direction to Department Managers, Shift Supervisors, and team members.
• Coach and develop store leaders and team members while reinforcing accountability and performance expectations.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training, and maintaining appropriate staffing.
• Help create a positive work environment that promotes engagement, accountability, development, and retention.
• Review store performance and identify opportunities to improve sales, productivity, neighbor engagement, and operational execution.
• Ensure standards for merchandising, inventory, animal care, cleanliness, safety, security, and overall store conditions are consistently maintained.
• Ensure consistent execution of daily stocking and down stocking, promotions, truck processing, inventory management, price changes, and other operational priorities.
• Resolve escalated neighbor, team member, and operational concerns.
• Support local marketing, community involvement, and store events.
• Assume responsibility for overall store operations in the Store Team Leader's absence.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on the needs of the business.

Leadership Expectations-

Assistant Store Team Leaders are expected to take ownership of the overall store alongside the Store Team Leader. This includes developing other leaders, identifying opportunities, solving problems, driving accountability, and ensuring consistent execution throughout the store.

The Assistant Store Team Leader should be capable of independently leading the entire store and making sound operational and people decisions when the Store Team Leader is unavailable.

Qualifications-

• Previous retail leadership experience required; 2+ years preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coach, develop, and hold leaders and team members accountable.
• Ability to understand store performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company systems.
• Dependable with reliable transportation.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
• Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate required store equipment after completing appropriate training.
