POSITION OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in promoting a customer and product-focused sales culture, managing sales operations, asset protection, and human resources to ensure a great customer experience and maximum profitability. FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performance Culture
  • Analyze sales reports and KPIs to determine business needs; execute in-store business and sales strategies with the Store Manager.
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations, hold team accountable for brand, performance, and behavior standards.
  • Control payroll and supply budgets.
  • Oversee operational activities such as scheduling, inventory, opening/closing duties, payroll review, and merchandise flow.
  • Handle financial activities including cash handling, price changes, and register transactions accurately.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, loss prevention policies, and operating procedures; conduct associate training on controls.
  • Manage inventory receipt, dispatch, replenishment, and physical inventories.
  • Maintain visual presentation, organization, and facility standards.
  • Develop a high-performance sales team to meet sales and productivity goals.
  • Train and coach staff on product knowledge and sales techniques.
Building High Performing Teams
  • Motivate and inspire the team, fostering a shared vision and core values.
  • Promote inclusive, collaborative problem-solving.
  • Communicate effectively to lead positive change.
  • Seek personal development and feedback to enhance leadership skills.
Customer Experience
  • Model and promote MAPS principles for a cohesive omni-channel experience.
  • Utilize sales techniques and product knowledge to assist customers.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly.
  • Ensure efficient register operations and adherence to payment policies.
  • Maintain customer communication and engagement strategies.
Talent Management
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and developing the team.
  • Implement and follow up on training programs.
  • Assess performance and provide coaching.
  • Address HR issues timely and effectively.
  • Drive engagement through recognition and rewards.
  • Ensure adherence to employment practices and policies.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years retail management preferred.
  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Adaptability to technology.
  • Proven customer service and sales leadership.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Leadership, training, and team-building abilities.
  • Knowledge of store operations.
  • Effective communication with staff and customers.
  • Regular attendance and flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
  • Constant walking/standing for 67-100% of shift.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. (1-33%).
  • Frequent climbing (34-66%).
